It is time for an update~!
Since I have brought the Hot Rod up to the Skunk Works I have gotten quite a bit of things completed on it. Tiffany and I finished plumbing the second and third stages of fuel enrichment for the nitrous systems. I had decided to go with the Koehler Fuel Controller instead of the more traditional regulators that most teams use. Our injection system is anything but traditional, and since Dave has been there, done that, I choose to follow his lead.

The next project we worked on was completing the nitrous distribution block which directs the liquid nitrous out to each of the stages. I currently have 3 systems plumbed and I am working with Nitrous Supply to finish the 4th system.

This distribution block also has provisions for our purges, which are mounted at the back of our injector.

Since we weren’t running the Nitemare on Labor Day and since the 1956 Hot Rod team wasn’t ready for competition yet, I decided to take the weekend off and do some work on the trailer, have a cookout, and then go to Eddyville to see Lance match race against Rail.
On Friday I took the trailer to Lowry Motorsports in Grinnell where 2 of Ron’s guys and I installed the canopy on our trailer.

I also brought the Hot Rod to the Skunk Works to do some work on it… See a future update.

This update starts on Tuesday, after fighting a week of the flu (or was it food poisoning) a worn out EDB and Tiffany headed to Montezuma Saturday morning to meet up with his mom & dad (the team owners) to pick up the Hot Rod and head to Eddyville for the rest of his licensing passes. The weather forecast had improved from an 80% chance of rain to only 20% and things were looking up. I knew it was going to be a long, hot day with 90% humidity and a high in the mid 90s.
We arrived at the track around 10 and started to setup our pit over in the Pro area close to the Nitemare team who we were to help as we could. Roger Stanke also pitted his Blown Alcohol FED over in this area.
